Wristbands
Our neighborhood of 17+ years often brings a big smile to my face! We’re truly blessed by the wide range of ages, interests, backgrounds, vocations, and family life stages we get to share with others.
Whether we’re having a block party, gathering at the park to chat, helping with snow blowing, doing a book club, taking care of mail & trash bins during a vacation, or playing in a fantasy football league, there’s a very good sense of community!
One of my favorite things is the young people in our neighborhood! They’re all over the place (as they should be)- on foot and their bikes, performing summer garage musicals, cutting grass, Christmas caroling, playing sports at the park, and making/selling bracelets and cookies from their sidewalk stand. Lately, I can’t help but think of them as young entrepreneurs of energy, creativity, and comradery!
Looking at these future generations from my vantage point, I am encouraged, optimistic, and think we’ll be in pretty good hands! They indeed merit our love and support. So, instead of being a “get off my lawn” kind of guy, I bought a handmade bracelet from our entrepreneurs and have been wearing it proudly next to a wristband that reminds me to live connected with God and others!
Jesus put it like this… Love God with all yourself and love your neighbor as yourself. Simple and straightforward. Let’s trust him and keep at it!
