Patio Tomato

Sitting outside last week, I couldn’t believe my eyes! In the inhospitable “sea of concrete” of our patio, a healthy tomato plant was unexpectedly growing strong in the crack between two 5 x 5 foot slabs…

Seeds carry forward the life of the fruit they come from, often in far from ideal circumstances! As such, somehow, a seed from a tomato made its way to our patio (by bird, rodent, or human) and fell between the concrete. It rooted and grew in the soil below. Life was in the seed, which produced a new plant, which will produce even more life through its seeds!

In similar fashion, a faith relationship with Jesus Christ and his Spirit has positive impact in and thru a person called fruit. These are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Since all fruit has seeds, if Christ followers live out the fruit of Jesus in all areas of their lives, then seeds with Jesus’ life producing impact will be scattered far and wide, making a positive difference through their words and actions. Let’s live as conduits of God’s love and life giving fruit & seeds!
