Water
Sitting at the edge of a lake in south-central Wisconsin, I watched the grass along the shore and its rhythmic moving in the water it drew life and support from, as it took in the sun’s light energy. I also saw algae clinging to rocks and caught glimpses of small fish darting for food among the rocks and grass. A great little ecosystem with many interdependent parts I’ve barely scratched the surface of describing!
Deep into this July 4th weekend (which I hope you’re enjoying), I’m reminded of similar “ecosystems” that we’re part of in daily relationships and responsibilities. Environments in which interdependence with others is just as critical as personal independence and freedom. And where tapping into and sharing a foundational source of life and love greater than ourselves brings about broader thriving!
It is clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make
sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do
whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom.
Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love;
that is how freedom grows. For everything we know about
God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others
as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom. – Galatians 5:13 (The Message)
Let’s love greater & thrive wider, sourced in Jesus!
