Even though the Packers are done for the year, this weekend I did get to watch a super competitive team prevail against a heavily-favored, well-seasoned opponent in the cold and wind outdoors. As the temps plummeted, they elevated their game making the victory all the more sweet!

Their secret? Excellent teamwork that involved good communication within the team, different roles and experience that complemented one another, veteran leadership mixed with younger enthusiasm, preparation for opposition, and shared focus mixed with humor and encouragement!

No, I’m not talking about a team in the NFL playoffs on TV. More impressively, a team of six roofers who tackled a complete tear off and re-roof this Fri & early Sat in our neighborhood. Yeah, Jan 17-18 in Wisconsin! They prevailed in winds 10-25 mph, temps 45-15 degrees, 12-50 feet off the ground, on steep roof pitches, with only 9.5 hours of daylight. It was indeed impressive!

Years ago, Jesus focused his attention on investing in a core team of twelve very different persons to carry forward his work. Again and again, he showed them what it looks like to LOVE GOD with all yourself and LOVE OTHERS as yourself.  Jesus continues to do so today, in regular people everywhere, thru his incarnation, crucifixion, resurrection, and indwelling Spirit!
