Music
So, a rabbi, priest, and pastor walk into a bar in downtown Waukesha… Actually, I’m not too sure about the first two guys, I just followed them in!
Anyway, the blast of warm air, sounds of live music, and familiar faces immediately chased away the chill of the cold outside. It was open jam/open mic night and I’d arrived just in time. Though I possess no instrumental and limited vocal music ability, I do greatly enjoy live music of all types and appreciate and respect musicians at all levels who “put themselves out there” to bless others with their craft!
Highlights? I had more than a few, but I’ll mention the joy I had connecting with friends (old & new) around a table, while celebrating the effort, talent, teamwork, and accomplishments happening on stage! Also, there were many instances of seasoned, professional caliber musicians playing together with less experienced ones, enjoying the moment and encouraging their younger peers. It was a great environment for growth and the atmosphere just seemed to bring out the best in everybody!
Jesus calls us to center on loving God with all ourselves and loving others as ourselves, wherever, whenever, and however. Jesus was smiling big that night at the open jam. Let’s do likewise wherever we are, whenever he prompts, and however we can!
